Viscosity Grade VG-30 is a paving bitumen graded by its flow resistance at service and mixing-related temperatures. Under IS 73:2013, VG-30 has an absolute viscosity range of 2,400–3,600 Poise at 60°C and a minimum kinematic viscosity of 350 cSt at 135°C.
VG-30 is widely specified for dense-graded asphalt and heavily trafficked pavement applications in climates where a stiffer viscosity-grade binder is required. Because grading systems differ internationally, the project specification should clearly identify IS 73:2013 or another agreed basis rather than treating VG-30 as a direct ASTM grade equivalent.

Specification limits are editable and should be aligned with the buyer’s purchase specification and the shipment Certificate of Analysis.
The table below follows IS 73:2013 VG-30 requirements. Absolute viscosity at 60°C is the principal grading range, supported by 135°C kinematic viscosity and limits for penetration, softening point, flash point, solubility and RTFO-aged properties.
The shipment COA and buyer-approved specification remain the controlling acceptance documents.

Handling & Storage
Keep the product dry and use controlled heating. Avoid local overheating in tanks and transfer lines. Follow site hot-bitumen procedures and use suitable thermal PPE.
