Product Information

Blown / Oxidized Bitumen 85/25 is a controlled air-oxidized bitumen grade. Oxidation changes the binder structure, increasing softening point and reducing temperature susceptibility while retaining enough penetration for industrial processing and adhesion. The 85/25 designation reflects the midpoint convention used for oxidized-bitumen grades: a softening-point range around 85°C and a penetration range around 25 dmm. Historical oxidized-bitumen specifications published by international technical bodies show the 85/25 class with a softening point of 80–90°C and penetration of 25±5 dmm.

Applications

  • Roofing membranes and waterproofing compounds
  • Pipe coatings and protective industrial coatings
  • Mastics, joint fillers and sealants
  • Adhesives and insulation compounds
  • Industrial bituminous formulations requiring elevated softening point
Buyer Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 85/25 mean in oxidized bitumen?

The grade name follows the midpoint convention: softening point around 85°C and penetration around 25 dmm, normally represented by acceptance ranges of 80–90°C and 20–30 dmm.

What is Oxidized Bitumen 85/25 used for?

It is commonly used in roofing, waterproofing, pipe coating, mastics, sealants, insulation, adhesives and other industrial bituminous compounds.

Is 85/25 softer than 90/15?

Yes. 85/25 has a higher penetration range and a slightly lower softening-point range, making it less hard than 90/15.
